Therapists for college students near Portland, OR
College is a time of growth, change, and self-discovery—but it can also feel overwhelming. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, relationship challenges, or the pressure of figuring out who you are and where you're headed, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I specialize in working with college students who are feeling stuck, anxious, or uncertain about their identity, future, relationships, or place in the world. Many of my clients are navigating major life transitions, questioning their sense of self, or working through the challenges of living independently for the first time. You might be adjusting to new academic pressures, dealing with imposter syndrome, exploring your values and beliefs, or feeling the weight of expectations—whether from family, school, or yourself. In therapy, you’ll have a supportive and non-judgmental space to explore your emotions, experiences, and goals with self-compassion. My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT). Together, we’ll work on understanding and reshaping negative self-beliefs, building confidence, and developing skills to help you navigate life’s challenges with more ease. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but taking that first step can help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected to yourself. I offer online scheduling and reduced rates for students through ThrivingCampus. Your growth and well-being matter. Contact me today to schedule your first session.
PostScript Therapy offers LGBQ and transgender affirmative counseling for individuals, families, couples and relationships, through the process of narrative therapy and attachment theory. I am committed to equity in relationships, as I believe equitable relationships are essential to establishing and maintaining healthy and valued relationships. I believe in fostering a shared sense of community, responsibility, and social consciousness with the goal of valuing relationships and empowering individuals and families. In order to foster such a community and create a space of healing and increased awareness, it is vital to recognize how our experiences and perspectives are shaped by the interactions of our family legacies, intimate relationships, social climate, societal expectations and different aspects of our identities including, but not limited to our race, gender, nationality, age, sexual orientation, religion, body type, relationship orientation, ability, and socio-economic status. In addition to my work with transgender youth, adults and families, I am body and fat positive, polyam and kink friendly, and specialize in working with queer, transgender/non-binary, and LGB individuals, relationships, and families. Using narrative therapy and attachment theory, I facilitate and create space for exploration of my clients' stories and examining strategies for maintaining connection learned in childhood that may impacting growth and connection in current relationships such as with work, family, , friends, and intimate relationships. I also incorporate solution-focused, experiential, and intergenerational therapy interventions to build on strengths, establish attainable goals, and uncover family patterns of interactions that may be influencing current distress.

My work is to support you in realizing your most authentic, integrated self. I offer holistic, mindful somatic psychotherapy (Hakomi method), to create deep and lasting growth and change. In our work together we'll turn towards your physical sensations and emotions, for the sake of the information, and to allow integration and wholeness, and a future that does not look like your past. A respect for the intelligence of nature, Jungian archetypes, Eastern Philosophies (having spent 20 years as an acupuncturist), and a love for writing and creative practices is woven into my work. I love supporting women in life change. Relationship loss and grief, career shift or desire to shift, perimenopause, empty-nest, or partnering - these are times ripe for discovery and exploration. Therapy can support your evolution - find deeper connection with yourself and others, heal unresolved hurts, embody your strengths, develop a stronger identity and self-worth, and discover direction or post-traumatic growth. Anxiety, depression, issues of self-worth and relational issues - through this process of witnessed self-reflection, you'll develop greater insight, capacity to interrupt self-defeating patterns, and opportunity to create more aligned choices and preferred experiences in your life. College can feel exciting and full of opportunities, but it can also bring a lot of stress. Many of the students I work with are balancing heavy class loads, pressure to succeed, relationship changes, and sometimes homesickness. This can lead to feeling anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, or unable to focus. At Giving Hope Psychiatry, I work with students who seek support in managing stress, improving focus, stabilizing their mood, and finding healthy ways to cope with challenges. Some students come to me for help with ADHD, anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder. Others simply need a safe space to discuss what they’re going through and explore options for feeling better. Appointments are available online and flexible, allowing you to meet from your dorm, apartment, or anywhere you feel comfortable. My goal is to provide care that is supportive, personalized, and hopeful—so you don’t have to go through this alone.
Hi, I'm Allison! I work with folks who are curious about ADHD or other forms of neurodivergence that don’t fit the “typical” profile. Many of my clients also feel anxious, burned out, or emotionally overwhelmed and want clarity, self-understanding, and tools to work with their brain in a way that feels supportive and allows for more ease in daily life. I specialize in ADHD therapy and assessment, anxiety, and neurodivergent-affirming care, with particular attention to presentations in female identifying, AFAB, and gender-diverse clients. I use a holistic approach that integrates IFS, DBT, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation to support self-compassion, emotional regulation, and practical daily skills. If you’re seeking clarity, relief, or a better understanding of yourself and your mind, I honor how complex that process can be—especially when things haven’t always made sense before. I offer a collaborative, affirming space where we move at your pace and focus on care that supports insight, practical change, and your whole self.

I work with people in transition or who are preparing for change. Artists, actors and writers. Those in bereavement. Or who are living with a catastrophic health-related diagnosis, recent or of long duration. Caregivers. Mental health interns who need to explore their own issues in order to practice mindfully. Folks who are using substances more than they want. People who want to decrease their distress but who also have a curiosity about its sources. People who want to talk with someone about the most important thing in the world, perhaps to discover what that is. My specialty is the intuitive analysis of what is most important to you. My experience has shown me that we carry within us the answers we're looking for. My skill is in eliciting these answers and reflecting them back to you so you recognize them. I've been trained in Depth psychology, Narrative psychology and Cognitive Behavior therapy, in dream analysis and evidence-based practices like Seeking Safety. In addition to private practice I've directed multiple community mental health and recovery programs, as well as provided training and clinical supervision to new therapists.
