I have many years experience helping people with their emotional problems. I work with individuals of all ages from adolescence to old age. My approach is listening-focused. No two persons who have come to see me have had the same issues and struggles to contend with. So what is needed is close, attentive listening so I can know how you can most benefit from my help. Many patients prefer to focus on the here and now problems they feel most immediately. But others want to explore their root causes in earlier relations and problems. I try to tailor my practice to work at either or both these levels of intensity.
Welcome to our high-quality integrative psychotherapy practice, where we provide personalized and effective treatment to help you achieve your mental health goals. I have worked at different university counseling centers in the past, including California College of the Arts, Barnard College, Columbia University, the Graduate Center of CUNY, and last in the role of assistant director of the counseling center at Fordham University. I have been in private practice for 20 years now, where I see many undergraduate and graduate students. The goal of my work with you is to help you make your life more fulfilling. Good psychotherapy will alleviate your personal suffering, and make you more resourceful emotionally and practically. It will strengthen your capacity to negotiate relationships, to love, and feel more alive and connected. I respect your intelligence, and aim for us to be collaborators in the process of psychotherapy. I listen closely to you and share my questions and observations with you. I am a psychoanalyst certified by NYU, where I received four awards. I completed advanced training in couple's therapy (White Institute). I published a book entitled "Immigration in Psychoanalysis," give talks, supervise and teach. Areas of specialty are: Our relationship to ourselves and others. Couples therapy, immigration and acculturation, childhood trauma, creative and work blocks. I work with a diverse group of people of different ages, class backgrounds, nationalities, ethnicities, sexual identities and orientations. I see adolescents, adults and couples.
I see psychotherapy as a collaborative process to help individuals gain a fresh perspective on their lives, recognize repeating patterns in their behaviors and relationships, and find new solutions for old problems. My approach is psychodynamic and eclectic, balancing both depth and real-world focus to address the unique needs of each patient at the intersection of their physical, mental, internal, external, interpersonal, and sociopolitical spheres of experience. I have a particular passion working with individuals who find themselves outside of the narrow band of supposedly “normal” identity and desire, including people who are “kinky”/involved in BDSM, nonmonogamous, polyamorous, in open relationships, queer, gender non-conforming, non-binary, and/or trans* (transitioning or not transitioning). I endeavor to use my concentrated graduate study, post-graduate training, and clinical experience in these areas to provide a warm, open, and supportive space to facilitate self-understanding and growth.
We are a group of experienced psychologists who use evidence-based treatments to support anxiety, mood disorders, relationship issues and more. We use relational work as well as CBT/DBT, mindfulness, ACT and EMDR. Our psychologists, Dr. Heidi Cox, Dr. Alejandra Feliz, and Dr. Sarah Davidson and Dr. Michelle Sidhom are experienced in treating college aged clients. We are LGBTQ+ and HAES-allied. We are in person in Union Square and Park Slope and also have virtual appointments available now.
I have experience supporting clients through anxiety, depression, life adjustments, and their interpersonal relationships. My background has equipped me to help individuals navigate these challenges and work towards meaningful change. Throughout our sessions, my goal is to help you feel comfortable being vulnerable and open. By fostering a compassionate and empathetic understanding of yourself, I aim to support you in taking control of your life and finding a path that feels right for you.
Much of my practice has centered around understanding the unique complexities surrounding identity development and interpersonal relationships. I work with a wide range of presenting issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, grief, and trauma. I specialize in relationship distress, life transitions, communication challenges, sexuality and gender related issues, and consensual non-monogamy/polyamory. I believe that transformative therapy begins with a collaborative and trusting therapeutic partnership, one that highlights the unique knowledge, strengths, and skill sets of each client entering the room. Through trauma-informed practice, I aim to facilitate a safe and affirming therapeutic space. I recognize the ways in which institutions, systems, and intersectional identities impact individual experiences and overall wellbeing. My integrated approach to psychotherapy is based upon person-centered, existential, and attachment-based perspectives. I am passionate about exploring the ways in which attachment and trauma impact how an individual’s identity is formed.
Inclusive Psychotherapy in New York for Adolescents, Adults, and Couples/Relationships You worry all the time about being judged by other people. You feel disconnected from your body and, at the same time, feel like it’s all you think about. You question what you say, how your body looks, if you’re doing things “right,” and there are so many times when your mind feels like it’s on a hamster wheel that you can’t stop. You’re on edge all day and sometimes feel like you may be having a heart attack. You don’t feel like you fit in anywhere. You’ve been made fun of for many different parts of who you are. You’ve been called weird or misunderstood at work, in your family, and even in some of your dating relationships. You’ve struggled to find someone who feels like a good fit romantically, and you’re worried there’s something wrong with you. From the start, we want you to know that at Meadow Therapy, we believe you have inherent worth simply by being born. Throughout your life, you’ve learned tools for survival that may no longer feel like they serve you. We can help you shift those survival skills using Mind to Body Psychotherapy. Mind to Body Psychotherapy is a mix of body-based work, exploration of childhood hurts, the neuroscience of emotions/emotional regulation, and other concrete coping skills, that will help you tap into your inner resources. You already have many creative tools you’ve used for survival. One of our goals is to help you move out of survival mode into having a thriving and fulfilling life. We offer inclusive therapy for adolescents and adults, couples therapy, and group therapy. Many insurances are accepted and services provided in-person and Telehealth. Psychotherapy will help you navigate difficulties in relationships, careers, and life in general. It will help you understand and work through the emotional roadblocks, such as anxieties and depressive moods that can cause individuals to struggle, . Modalities such as CBT, ACT, DBT, IMAGO, psychodynamic and relational approaches, are used in my practice. An essential feature of this approach is the development of a unique and trusting relationship between client and therapist. In a safe, non-judgmental environment, we will discuss difficulties through an exploration of presenting problems, personal history, relationships and goals.
As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with 33 years of experience in healthcare, I believe people deserve more than just getting through the day. I’m passionate about helping individuals discover that there is a better way than carrying the weight of the world while trying to convince everyone — including themselves — that everything is fine. I specialize in trauma-informed care, depression, anxiety, PTSD, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder, working with adolescents and adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or disconnected from the life they want to be living. Many people spend years pushing through stress, emotional pain, and life's demands, only to feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or burdened by guilt and self-doubt when things become difficult to manage. Mental health challenges rarely stem from a single issue. Often, they are shaped by life experiences, relationships, stressors, and circumstances that influence one another over time, sometimes leaving people caught in patterns of thinking, feeling, or behaving that feel frustrating or confusing, without a clear sense of where those patterns began. All of these stories matter. Through my professional experience and personal journey, I’ve learned that from the moment we enter the world, our experiences, relationships, and circumstances shape how we see ourselves and navigate life. Sometimes the hand we are dealt is difficult, and the ways we learn to cope, survive, and protect ourselves can unintentionally create additional struggles along the way. Mental health is not separate from the rest of our lives — it influences how we think, feel, respond to stress, connect with others, and move through the world. My goal is to help you gain insight into your story, recognize patterns that may be holding you back, and discover your own capacity for healing, growth, and meaningful change. My approach is curious, compassionate, and collaborative. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, I take the time to understand the bigger picture, recognizing that mental health challenges are often shaped by a combination of life experiences, relationships, stressors, and personal circumstances. Understanding the whole story allows us to develop practical, individualized strategies that help make life's challenges feel more manageable and create lasting, meaningful change. Central to that work is uncovering the "why" behind the struggle. Long-standing patterns of guilt, shame, self-doubt, or emotional exhaustion can make it genuinely difficult to move forward, especially when those patterns don't seem to connect to anything obvious on the surface. Together, we explore them with curiosity rather than judgment, tracing the factors that may be contributing to what you're experiencing now. While doing this work you can always expect a warm, solution-focused environment where you feel heard and understood. Meaningful progress starts with a trusting relationship and a thorough understanding of your unique experiences, challenges, and goals. My style is trauma-informed at its core: I recognize that past experiences often shape how we think, feel, relate to others, and respond to stress in the present. From there, I tailor my approach to you, combining insight with practical strategies that support self-understanding, build resilience, and create the kind of change that lasts. My path into mental health care was shaped by both professional and personal experiences. As the director of a COVID ICU during the pandemic, I witnessed the emotional impact that illness, uncertainty, loss, and burnout had on patients, families, and healthcare professionals. It reinforced my belief that mental and emotional well-being go hand in hand. My passion for mental health deepened when my grandson experienced a mental health crisis at a young age. Despite working in healthcare, I witnessed firsthand how difficult it can be to navigate the system, find resources, and connect with providers who truly understand what individuals and families are going through. These experiences strengthened my commitment to providing compassionate, whole-person care that helps people feel heard, understood, and supported as they uncover the deeper roots of their struggles, access their own capacity for healing, and create powerful, lasting change.
I've had meaningful experience working with patients struggling with substance use, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. These challenges often overlap and can show up as feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or not quite like yourself. I focus on helping patients understand what they're experiencing, such as differentiating intrusive thoughts from more severe conditions, which often reduces fear and improves engagement in treatment. I also work well with individuals who feel stuck in cycles of rumination, avoidance, or emotional dysregulation, helping them build insight and develop more effective ways to cope and function day to day. I’m most passionate about making mental healthcare more approachable, especially for LGBTQ+ individuals and underserved communities who often face added barriers, stigma, or lack of access to care. I find it meaningful to create a space that feels safe, affirming, and non-judgmental, where people can be fully themselves. My hope is that you feel comfortable being honest, even about things that are hard to say, and that over time you gain a clearer understanding of yourself, feel more in control of your thoughts and emotions, and build confidence in navigating your life.

Are you a creative person with high aspirations experiencing procrastination, perfectionism, and a hostile inner critic? Do you want to feel more free in your work or your relationships? Do you feel anxious or depressed and want to obsess less and laugh more? We will think together to figure out why you feel stuck, and how you will transform. We will collaborate to your unique strengths, using an eclectic approach. I am a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist in the state of New York and received my Master's Degree from New York University in drama therapy. I completed post-graduate psychotherapy training at the Institute for Developmental Transformations, where I also served as Associate Training Director for three years. I worked at the School of Visual Arts as a psychotherapist and for 9 years worked at Bellevue Hospital in the department of psychiatry. I utilize empirically supported and embodied creative approaches to psychotherapy including Attachment Focused EMDR (completed levels 1 -3). I believe we should all be free to love who we love, to identify in whatever way feels most natural to us, and I am honored to hold space for anyone who is questioning what is "right" for them. I am fortunate to have worked with individuals from many continents. I strive to be aware of the power and privilege I have in the therapy space. I invite dialogue and play for exploring issues of cultural identity, race, class, trauma and abuse of power. I am an out-of-network provider for Wellfleet-Cigna (SVA, NYU, Cooper Union, Sarah Lawrence, etc.) and submit the paperwork on client's behalf.
I am a private practice therapist who works with adults of all ages, with particular experience supporting LGBTQIA+ clients and those who have experienced trauma. I believe that symptoms—whether anxiety, depression, or something harder to name—often have roots in our histories and relationships. In our work together, we’ll slow down and get curious about the patterns, feelings, and ways you’ve learned to cope that may no longer be serving you. Many of the students I work with are navigating academic pressure, identity questions, relationship stress, or major life transitions while trying to keep up with the demands of school and daily life. My hope is to offer a warm, attuned space where greater self-understanding can lead to real and lasting change.

As a therapist, I provide evidence-based psychotherapy (CBT and ACT) to women and young adults experiencing a range of symptoms and life stressors. My specialties include depression, anxiety, stress and coping skills, dating and relationships, self-esteem, meditation/mindfulness, and ADHD. My goal is to help people understand why they feel and act the way they do, while helping them navigate this difficult world with compassion, kindness, and grace. It was my own journey of mindfulness and self-discovery that led me to pursue a career as a psychotherapist. Prior to receiving my Master of Social Work from NYU, I was working in international fashion sales. When not doing the work I love, you can find me at a meditation retreat, a yoga class, or cooking up (mostly) vegan treats!
