Welcome! I am Amy Castongia, a Nationally Certified Counselor, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Certified Telehealth Provider and owner of Calm Blue Waters Counseling. I will work with you to help you find the tools to cope and manage obstacles that have kept you from obtaining your goals. My training is in treating adolescents and adults struggling with eating disorders, body image concerns, anxiety and depression. I strive to provide an open, nonjudgmental, and warm environment where clients can grow, including through online therapy. I want you to have a new perspective by the time your session is complete.
I specialize in working with individuals who may be struggling with anxiety, past traumas, disordered eating, confidence, feeling overwhelmed, or feeling inadequate. Some of my clients describe themselves as a "perfectionist". It’s exhausting trying to maintain the standards you hold yourself to when internally you’re feeling like things are falling apart. I take an empathetic and non-judgmental approach that creates a safe and warm environment allowing you to explore past traumas, feeling overwhelmed, anxious or inadequate. Please visit my website for more information. My practice offers a sanctuary for individuals who have endured past traumas or abuse, and for those who habitually set aside their own needs to care for others. I understand the profound frustration that arises when situations feel beyond your control. Through a blend of therapeutic approaches including CBT and evidence based somatic techniques, we'll explore the patterns that aren't working for your lifestyle anymore. Together, we'll work to uncover and address the roots of your challenges. My goal is to empower you to embrace vulnerability as a strength, enabling a transformative journey towards a more balanced, fulfilling life. Let's connect and build a genuine and authentic relationship that allows you to feel safe enough to be vulnerable.
I specialize in helping adults work through unresolved trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, problem gambling, hoarding, phobias, and grief. I also support clients with stress management and navigating life’s everyday challenges. I am trained in EMDR, NARM, and IFS and my approach is warm, supportive, and collaborative. I am licensed to provide telehealth services to clients in both California and North Carolina. I strive to create a nonjudgmental and caring environment where you can feel safe to explore what’s holding you back and begin moving toward meaningful change. Whether you're just starting your therapy journey or returning after time away, I’ll meet you where you are and tailor your treatment to your specific needs and goals. I’m passionate about this work because I have the privilege of walking beside people on their healing journey. Witnessing the shift from feeling stuck in painful patterns to gaining true freedom and self-understanding is something I never take for granted. Therapy isn’t about being “fixed”—it’s about being heard, seen, and supported as you grow and heal.
Thank you for considering working with me. I understand how important it is to have the right support during difficult times. My approach is integrative and personalized, meeting you exactly where you are. Together, we’ll create a safe and supportive space to explore what’s on your mind, while also focusing on practical steps to help you feel more like yourself again. Whether you're feeling stuck in worry, overwhelmed by racing thoughts, or struggling with self-doubt, we’ll work together to build tools that help you feel more grounded and centered in the present.
Tiffany is a native of Mississippi graduating from the prestigious Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science. She spent her summers in the mountains of North Carolina during undergraduate and graduate schools and eventually found her way back to North Carolina full time. Tiffany graduated with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master's Degree in Community Counseling from Regent University. Tiffany has been providing counseling services since 2012 and Neurofeedback services since 2014. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina. Tiffany is one of only three clinicians in North Carolina's Piedmont Triad Region who is Board Certified in Neurofeedback from The Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) and a certified mentor for the BCIA board certification process helping train other practitioners to become board certified in neurofeedback. Tiffany is a the only clinician in the region who has the Quantitative EEG-Diplomate Licensed (QEEG-DL) certification from the QEEG Certification Board. She is certified in HeartMath and serves as adjunct faculty at Wake Forest University in the graduate counseling program. Tiffany has received didactic training to read QEEG brain maps and administer scientifically based neurofeedback training from her mentor, Robert E. Longo, MRC, LCMHC, BCN; Richard Soutar, PhD, BCN (Alpha Theta Training); Tiff Thompson, PhD, MFT, BCN, QEEGDL, REEGT (QEEG Training), and Sebern Fisher (Neurofeedback and Developmental Trauma). Click here to listen to Tiffany’s talk on Developmental Trauma. When Tiffany began her career, she used more well-known techniques, like cognitive behavioral therapy and play therapy, but it wasn’t long before she became increasingly aware that the mental health field needed alternatives. Neurofeedback takes advantage of the brain's ability to change itself allowing a person of any age to make changes in behavior and thinking patterns more easily. Using a combination of counseling and Neurofeedback, Tiffany began to see more substantial changes in her client's lives. Currently, Tiffany utilizes Neurofeedback and Heart Rate Variability in combination with traditional counseling. Click here to read Tiffany’s article on the popular Blog—Triad Mom’s on Main. Tiffany works with a variety of clientele utilizing a person-centered approach, which means sessions will start with you and your needs. Together, we will explore the issues that you bring to counseling in a holistic way with emphasis on emotional and personal history perspectives. Tiffany‘s experience has allowed her to work closely with many children, teenagers, and adults of different needs and backgrounds where she brings enthusiasm, compassion and cross-cultural understanding to her work towards healing and wholeness.

I enjoy working with young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I have a passion for helping individuals reclaim their lives back from trauma, and I believe trauma therapy is more important now than ever. I believe the mind/body connection is very strong, and is important in mental health. I also work with clients who are experiencing stress, life transitions, and grief. I am an EMDRIA certified Therapist and IFS informed. I also use a lot of CBT, DBT, and mindfulness interventions. I am also very strengths- based. In my sessions, I aspire to offer a safe, supportive, and empowering environment to my clients, so they can be themselves, and work through whatever is keeping them from being their best selves. I operate through a strengths-based approach, and will try to bring laughter and humor into the sessions (when appropriate) as laughter is the best medicine.

Together, we’ll explore the challenges and changes that come with this season of life, helping you build resilience, confidence, and emotional balance. "You deserve the love you so freely give to others.” – Alexandra Elle My practice is centered around you as a “whole person,” not just as a collection of diagnoses. As a therapist I seek to offer a full range of therapeutic services using theory and evidence-based practice, while also simply sitting in your challenging spaces with you, providing a comforting, nurturing, judgement-free environment, and pushing you to break through and progress in your mental health journey. I believe that taking care of yourself is the single most important endeavor you can undertake in your life, and I hope to be able to assist you in any way I can as you begin looking inward. Much like life, treatment is everchanging. Each session we will work together to develop a treatment regimen that best suits your needs both in the moment and as you move forward. We will complete an initial assessment to help me better understand your basic needs. I’ll gather information from you about your background, history, family dynamics, lifestyle, culture, socioeconomic status, and current symptoms. Then, we will have a few rapport-building sessions to get to know one another as I continue assessing your needs. As we progress, we will begin developing goals for your treatment plan centered around decreasing your symptomology and bringing balance back to your life. I will also often present other resources in our community that I believe can eliminate some of the burdens you face. Each session I will use the tools, skills, and knowledge I possess to support you, push you, and guide you through what you’re facing. I believe as a therapist it is my job to find a balance between comforting you and validating your feelings, while also challenging you and often telling you things you may not be thrilled to hear. It is my goal to make sure you feel safe and secure in treatment in addition to presenting you with alternate ways of thinking, gently coaching you through correcting any harmful behaviors, and changing your perspectives on how you perceive your reality. My process is to get to know you on an individual level, gain your trust, provide a safe and validating space for you to release your emotions, and then walk alongside you as you learn to advance in your mental health.
