I help folks get unstuck by using strategies and conserving their energy as best they can. Sometimes all the insight in the world doesn't change your life. I use various behavior therapies so we can understand how and why you tick AND come up with tangible steps towards the life you’ve always wanted. Virtual evening skills groups! I offer virtual DBT skills groups for adults including: young adults, mixed ages and all genders, women only and men only. Generally the folks I work with struggle with high sensitivity, perfectionism, and mild/moderate depression and anxiety symptoms. Most of the folks I work with use the psychoeducational group to enhance the individual healing work they are already doing. The group adds structure and accountability to practicing evidence based coping strategies to better manage moods, identify triggers, improve relationships/communication and overall stress management techniques.

Let's schedule a free 15-minute consultation and see if we're a good fit. We can then proceed to schedule an appointment. You've already taken the first step towards your wellness by looking for a provider. The time to make a change is now; your future self will thank you!
My practice specialization is focused on women’s issues and perinatal mental health. In response to the recent changes in access to women's reproductive healthcare, many of us are feeling confused, scared, (and p*ssed off!). I provide a safe space for women to process whatever emotions they may be feeling as a result of their direct experiences or related to future concerns. I believe that the relationship between clinician & client is the foundation for a successful therapy experience. Please know that I realize how difficult it is to connect with a “stranger” when you are feeling overwhelmed and vulnerable. Therapy can be challenging, but it can also be very enlightening. It can also be light-hearted & fun. (I guarantee a few laughs during each session!) I utilize a variety of therapy techniques, which ultimately allows for flexibility in making sure that you get what you need in a way that works for you.

It can be extremely hard to navigate through life with all of the stressors we face on a daily basis. Feeling stuck in your relationships—whether with friends, partners, or even yourself? It’s common to feel overwhelmed by misunderstandings, anxiety about caring for others, or the pressure to “have it all together.” For many students, relationships shift fast: new independence, long-distance friendships, the challenge of dating while studying, or balancing your own needs with others’. I work with students who… • find themselves repeating the same argument or feeling misunderstood in a partnership • struggle to connect emotionally or feel distant from friends • worry they’re always giving more than they receive • feel unsure about who they are when they’re in a relationship • want healthier boundaries and more confidence in saying “me too” Together, we’ll create a space where you can slow down, explore how you relate, and build the skills to communicate clearly, be seen, and feel supported, not just in your relationships, but in your life. Because the most important relationship you’re building right now is with you. If you’re ready to find a more grounded, authentic connection—with others and yourself—let’s talk.

Welcome! I am a licensed individual therapist who works with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, low self-esteem, and difficult life-transitions. My clients are typically looking for a path to cope with their present concerns through developing and strengthening skills and self-understanding to aid them in living more comfortable, fulfilling, and meaningful lives. I use an eclectic approach to engage in a client-centered relationship formed through compassion, empathy, and validation. Mental health is a challenging landscape, yet with the right support I believe the process can be rewarding too. My commitment is to provide a non-judgmental, safe space to help people guide themselves toward a place of empowerment and personal growth. I specialize in humanistic practice and know that each person possesses their own unique strengths and abilities to build upon in helping them evolve and improve their quality of life. Change is hard, plain and simple, and that includes starting a new therapeutic relationship and taking action in addressing your needs. If you are ready to take that first step, I would love to collaborate with you on your journey. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, or to set up a free consultation including a face-to-face video chat.
My ideal client is someone who is ready and motivated to dive in head first into their healing journey. Someone who knows they have their “stuff” but really wants to explore where it all stems from. I love working with those clients who just trying to figure it all out in this life (I see you, Millennials) and who are navigating the transitions and curveballs that can be thrown our way. I love meeting the client where they’re at to begin with, but don’t be surprised when I push you a little bit. I’ve been told that I have a really great way of understanding mental health, but I’m also known not to sugar coat the realities. I am trained in EMDR (A trauma processing modality using eye movements) and other trauma informed care models to explore the aspects of our past and handle the bigger emotions that could come along with that. Being real and relatable is very important to me in my sessions as the therapist/client connection is what will drive this boat. As your therapist, I can promise to provide you the tools to step outside of your own head and connect the dots that answer the question of “Why am I the way that I am”? Therapy is not always easy and we need to be honest with ourselves with what’s holding us back, but I can promise to provide positive vibes and great support every single time we meet.
Get back to feeling like yourself. Everyone struggles sometimes—whether it’s with stress, anxiety, depression, relationships, or big life transitions. At Blue Square Counseling, our supportive therapists will work with you to create a plan that fits your needs and goals. We’ll walk alongside you every step of the way so you feel empowered, understood, and ready to move forward.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in the assessment and treatment of anxiety, panic, phobias, OCD, and related disorders in college students and young adults. I also work with clients looking to effectively navigate and cope with current life stressors (e.g., work challenges, interpersonal relationships, transitions). I use evidenced-based techniques in my work with clients, and primarily from a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) perspective. By emphasizing the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors clients will gain greater insight into their concerns and learn techniques for managing their anxiety and other life stressors. To target the behavioral aspects of anxiety, I will frequently incorporate exposure and response prevention (ERP) into my work to help clients to engage in exposures both during sessions and in real-world settings. I use a collaborative, personalized, and warm approach, working with clients to better understand their anxieties or challenges and encouraging them to become their own therapists over time while achieving their goals. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Bowdoin College, research assistantship at Boston University at the Family and Development Treatment Lab, doctoral studies at Boston University where I trained at their Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CARD), clinical internship at the VA Boston Healthcare System, and postdoctoral training at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. I then was a staff Psychologist at the McLean Anxiety Mastery Program (MAMP), an intensive outpatient program at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Most recently, I was a staff Psychologist and Assistant Director at Emerson College’s Counseling and Psychological Services.
Good therapy happens when you feel respected and understood. Transformation comes through honest dialogue with your therapist. My style is collaborative and interactive. I listen, I talk, we interpret and untangle; together we identify goals, overcome obstacles, and make positive change. Guided by the principles of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy - by the belief that our pasts shape our values and feelings, and impact our relationships - I provide individualized talk therapy for life transitions and stressors including Trauma, Loss, and Relationship and Existential Issues across the lifespan. I have over 25 years of experience working collaboratively with people navigating life transitions. My expertise includes managing anxiety, depression, job loss, parenting challenges, and adjusting to life changes. I utilize a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as well as Psychodynamic Approaches to understand and help navigate your challenges.
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I integrate a medical-model approach with supportive therapy to provide compassionate, comprehensive care. While diagnostic labels can help guide medication decisions, my focus is on understanding the deeper context of your challenges—exploring symptom triggers, emotional meanings, and how relationships influence your coping style. Mutual respect and trust are the foundation of my practice, and I am committed to creating a relaxed, non-judgmental space where honesty, transparency, and collaboration empower you to take an active role in your treatment. I treat a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, addiction, OCD, complex grief, and chronic illnesses. Together, we’ll work toward authentic growth, healthier choices, and a more positive outlook on life.
Hello, and welcome. My name is Kathleen McGah and I offer a comfortable, confidential space for teens, college-age students and young adults to talk about whatever is on their mind, at one's own pace, and without judgment. When people have a safe place to practice putting thoughts and feelings into words, they find they grow psychologically stronger over time - and more satisfied with various aspects of life. I have worked with many students who, initially, have been hesitant to talk with a professional. (Even if one has had a counseling experience in the past, it can still be difficult to start with a new therapist.) It makes sense if you have some hesitation about taking this step. Only you will know if you are ready. If you have been struggling and think it would be good to meet with a therapist, though, please reach out.
I believe the role of a therapist is to be more than a reflective and empathetic companion in the client’s journey and must also incorporate directive approaches in order to alternate between being a companion and being a leader on that journey. Inherent in this belief is that clients are coming to therapy because they want something different than what they currently have. This can be as simple as a new perspective on a past or current struggle or as complex as a new skill set for managing and overcoming emotional, behavioral, cognitive, relational, or somatic patterns that have arisen in response to emotional distress. My theoretical orientation is rooted in Systems Theory and I utilize interventions from Family Systems Therapy, Internal Family Systems, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, ARC, as well as Somatic and Mindfulness based psychotherapies. I have over 15 years of clinical experience working with adolescents, college students, adults, couples, and families. My experience has shown that change is typically hard work and often requires compassionate and collaborative support in order to build new skills. I see clients in both Oregon and Massachusetts and I offer a 30 minute free video or phone consultation to see if I am the right fit for you.
