Therapists for college students near Indianapolis, IN
I am kind, compassionate, and validating. I graduated from Herron School of Art and Design in 2021 with a masters degree in Art Therapy. I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LMHC) and a Registered Art Therapist (ATR). I am passionate about finding creative outlets to apply towards mental health goals.
My name is Elizabeth Askren, but most people that know me call me Beth. I'm a licensed mental health counselor, and I see clients in a private practice setting. My practice is Core Counseling & Wellness. I am trained and licensed as a mental health counselor, and I feel especially passionate about working with adults who struggle with anxiety, codependency, perfectionism, and those who have been called “overachievers”. I work with people to recover from emotional abuse, trauma, and neglect from both developmental or adult relationships, amd who struggle with self-worth and self-doubt, to those seeking to overcome developmental trauma, and who find themselves struggling with adult insecure attachment and toxic relationship patterns. Clients work with me to explore and heal the issues at the core of these struggles, and learn to regulate and process emotions and tolerate distress that can often make day to day life feel unbearable at times. Developing boundaries and finding validation and security from within are a part of this process. Along the way, I help clients identify and replace behaviors that are no longer serving them and are problematic in their current life. I assist clients in developIng new skills allowing them to shift towards living authentically, finding fulfillment, finding themselves, and ultimately finding joy. I see clients come out the other side with greater self-worth, grounded by confidence in themselves, discovering new opportunities while creating a fulfilling life in which they can thrive. Good therapy starts with genuine compassion and acceptance. These are core values of both my practice & my life. I love being a therapist. Genuinely, I really really love it. The work I do with clients is inspired by the deep work I've done myself. I show up to every session with an understanding of how it can feel to sit in my client's chair. If invited, I'd be honored to discuss working together. Contact me if you would like to setup time for a phone chat to explore this. I primarily work with clients in-person in my Broad Ripple office, but can take advantage of virtual appointments when clinically appropriate and necessary. Payment for services is due at the time of service. I am not “in-network” with any insurance plans, and am considered an “out-of-network” provider (or self-pay). While I am happy to offer some information and guidance to clients who have insurance plans that include out-of-network benefits, I do not bill insurance or submit claims, and can not guarantee reimbursement or coverage for services. Please contact your plan to identify if your plan includes out-of-network coverage, and if so what the reimbursement and limitations to coverage may be. I accept HSA & FSA payments, credit cards, checks, or cash.
Located near 96th St and Keystone Avenue on the north side of Indianapolis, my quiet, private office provides a comfortable, confidential, and supportive environment where you can share about yourself and your experiences. With a focus both on the individual and the systems and spaces in which people live, she works with those managing symptoms of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, transition of life stages, relationship challenges and changes, and managing stressors throughout life. Alecia specializes in using a strengths-based model and person-centered approach, with the belief that each client comes as an expert in their own life and experience. With the desire for each client, family and couple to find empowerment and meaningful experience, Alecia utilizes aspects of Motivational interviewing (MI), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and a family/systems model. She hopes to create a safe, empathetic, and comfortable environment with a trauma-informed approach. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who seeks to provide a safe and protected space that allows individuals to engage on a journey of emotional, psychological and spiritual exploration. I use a combination of mind-body approaches including mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). hypnotherapy, dream work, shamanic healing practices and energy work to help people identify and alter beliefs, thoughts, feelings, behaviors, judgments, and painful memories that stand in the way of living one's life. This work allows wounds to heal, helps a person break free from the destructive and unhealthy patterns and moves the person toward a greater sense of emotional and spiritual well-being. I use this bio-psycho-spiritual approach to address the body, mind, and spiritual aspects of a problem and to provide a way for individuals to discover and heal the root causes or those sensitizing events that are often contributing to or fueling the current problems. This encourages the potential for a more whole and integrated person to emerge.

Hi! I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Stephanie, a licensed mental health therapist and owner of Inner Emotions Counseling, LLC. I started my practice in 2021 and am currently working with clients up to age 25. My specialty areas include anxiety, depression, substance use and family/relationship issues. I strive to meet clients where they’re at using a solution-focused therapeutic style. I often turn to using cognitive behavioral therapy as well which helps clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. No problem is too big to overcome and I’ll be with you every step of the way in your journey. I graduated with a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands in 2020 and also have a Masters in Addictions Counseling from there as well. I completed this degree in 2021. I realized I wanted to be a therapist after teaching for a year in Indianapolis Public Schools. I earned my Bachelors degree from Butler University in 2015 and played collegiate soccer while doing so. My current hobbies include playing indoor soccer, being outside, spending time with my pets, reading and traveling. I’d love to help you overcome your presenting problems and help you move forward in life. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you think I’d be a good fit in your journey!
I see individuals working through transitional issues (university, relational, stage of life), common mental health issues (anxiety, depression, ADHD), and trauma (adverse childhood events, sexual/psychological/physical abuse, etc). Individuals I work with often are seeking therapy to feel more like themselves, relieve symptoms of mental health, and enjoy their day-to-day lives more. I find we are often a good fit when looking at therapy as an opportunity to connect, process, & grow. Do you find yourself unable to shut your mind off? Replaying past events or chronically worrying? Is your inner critic keeping you from finding confidence in yourself and security with your place in the world? Have you experienced emotional pain and confusion that keeps your past in the present? Are you struggling to build self-esteem or find self-worth? Has the stress from daily responsibilities compounded existing problems with depression, anxiety, or loss? It is possible to move through emotional pain and self-doubt. Together, we can build insight into thoughts, patterns, and behaviors that may be holding you back; explore your strengths and values; and determine how to make healthy change a part of your life. Learning styles vary, so I use elements from different therapeutic approaches. We can work together to discover the strengths you may not have known you have to achieve more satisfaction and balance in the most important areas of your life.

My approach to therapy comes from a space of empathy, compassion, and absolutely zero judgement. My goal for every individual is to help them experience a positive change. I utilize a strengths based approach to encourage my clients to tap into their own strengths and resources while also meeting them where they are at in their personal therapeutic journey. I became interested in therapy due to my own personal struggles with addiction and with 11 years of sobriety, I hope to help others. My goal is for my clients to get something out of the work we do together and for it to be worthwhile and beneficial for them. I work alongside my clients to help them reach their goals while appreciating and celebrating their strengths. I have a laid back approach which includes colorful language, an odd sense of humor, and finding a balance to push you outside of your comfort zone to accomplish your goals. I hope to create a safe space for my clients to be themselves and for me to help them process life's tough challenges and celebrate the victories.
So often clients we see feel unprepared and overwhelmed by the transitions they are facing during their college years. While we specialize in children and teens, we also understand the transition from teen to young adult can be difficult. We also understand many of the issues college students are dealing with started in childhood and are continuing today. We have student, pre-licensed and fully licensed therapists available with different price ranges. Check out our website to learn more about our services and our providers- www.indychildtherapist.com
My first priority is that you feel SAFE in this space. We won't dive into the deep end on day one. Instead, we’ll go at your pace, focusing on building a space where you feel safe enough to exhale first. My goal isn’t to 'fix' you (because I don't believe that you are broken), but to partner with you in figuring out what’s getting in the way of the life you want. I specialize in working with people who are skeptical of the therapy process, nervous about opening up, or people who haven't had the best experiences in the past with treatment and maybe think therapy isn't for them. Additionally, most of my clients come to me with issues related to trauma, grief, anxiety, depression and addiction. Kix is a therapy dog who joins me at work every day too and would be happy to join you in session! But don't worry - he can also take a nap during your session if you prefer.
I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient facilities, supporting both individual clients and their families. I have worked with individuals who are managing ADHD, Autism, PTSD, OCD, symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief, low self-esteem, transition of life, academic needs, relationship challenges and changes, and managing stressors throughout life and more. My goal as a therapist is to help you work through your issues, address your inner needs, and achieve your goals. I help you focus on what is most important to you by providing you a safe space to explore, express and examine the areas of your life that have been causing you stress or discomfort. In my free time, I enjoy playing tabletop board games, traveling, reading mystery and true crime thrillers, and spending time with my family and my dogs. You can text, email or call me. You can contact me at 317-731-2257. I will be taking new clients at the start of the year. I am in transition from a group practice to a solo practice!
