Hi, I'm Stephanie. I'm a licensed clinical psychologist who provides trauma-informed care to a wide variety of patients. I strive to provide a warm and safe space where patients can feel comfortable sharing without fear of judgment. My goal is to help my patients reflect on their values so that they can work towards what it means to be their "best self." I will always focus on treating the symptoms and not the "disorder," in an effort to tailor my approach to the individual. I believe deeply in fighting stigma associated with mental illness and am involved in advocacy and research outside of treating patients.
I graduated from The University of Georgia in 2011 with my masters in counseling; I worked as a staff therapist, suicide prevention coordinator, and disability services coordinator at Georgia Southern University and East Georgia State College respectively before going into private practice. I'm passionate about helping college students as they juggle demands and make major relationship and career decisions - it is a unique and overwhelming stage of life. I'm located near Charleston where I'm offering sessions via telehealth to GA & SC residents. Counseling can help improve communication between loved ones, support individuals adjusting to major life transitions, or develop coping skills to better manage emotions that have become distressing. I'm grateful you had the courage to explore counseling. Life is stressful at times and we can all use a safe place to receive support and feedback. It is my belief that each person has inherent value, and my goal is to encourage individuals to see their worth and facilitate them in making decisions they can reflect on with peace.
You’ve spent so much time being who everyone needed you to be and have drifted away from who YOU need to be for YOU. On the outside everything looks fine… you’re the “strong” one, you’re handling “business”, and you show up for everyone. BUT On the inside you may wish you had a “you”, are experiencing guilt/shame that you’re not where you are supposed to be in life, or maybe you are feeling overwhelmed from overthinking every detail. Life be life-ing, and sometimes we need someone to help us navigate, or a place to simply, just be. At my practice, Bloom House Therapy and Wellness, I love guiding teen girls and women to see life from a new angle. I am a firm believer in the fact we teach people how to treat us, and I'm here to walk alongside you as you rediscover self-care and figure out how you want to treat yourself. Together, we'll silence that inner critic and build relationships that nourish your soul, empowering you to reach your full potential. My therapy style is authentic and down to earth, innovative, and empowering. I get it sis, I know first hand the ups and downs of navigating life’s transitions, I will meet you where you are, and together we will navigate the road to you living your BEST authentic life. Many of the students I work with share something in common: they’re trying to juggle a lot at once. Between classes, assignments, work, relationships, and figuring out their future, life can feel overwhelming. Some struggle with stress and anxiety, others with low motivation, mood changes, or difficulty focusing. And many feel like they have to hold it all together on their own. In our work together, I provide a supportive space where you don’t have to have all the answers. My goal is to help you sort through what feels heavy, build tools to manage stress, and find balance so you can feel more like yourself again. You don’t need to know all the “right words” or have it figured out before you start—we’ll work together to make sense of what you’re going through. If you’re a student who feels stuck, overwhelmed, or just ready for extra support, this is a place where you can be honest, breathe easier, and move forward at your own pace.
Seeking help is challenging. Having to share thoughts and feelings with people can be intimidating. Having to talk to someone you don’t know can be intimidating. Stranger danger! However, like many things in life, it's not as hard as it seems. I work with people who feel overwhelmed with their thoughts and stress. The person who feels stuck. Overthinking leads to anxiety, anxiety leads to avoidance, and avoidance leads to feeling unhappy. Let's break that cycle!

As a therapist, I specialize in supporting people who feel trapped by anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and past trauma. I work with clients of all ages who find themselves overwhelmed by fears, stuck in cycles of perfectionism, coping with life transitions, or navigating complex relationships. My main goal is to help create and cultivate a space that feels authentic and safe, and I draw on a bunch of different modalities (ACT, CBT, DBT) to meet my clients where they are at. I love working with students because I too was just a student, and I know firsthand the challenges of trying to meet external, academic pressures, navigate relationships, and trying to manage and balance mental health struggles. If you resonate with my approach or experience, please reach out :)

Hello! My name is C Durden (she/her/hers), and I work at the Getting Real Counseling Center. A little bit about GRCC: Getting Real Counseling Center provides individual and relational counseling services to those who need it most. Our practice is a safe space to talk through your daily struggles and unlock your true potential. We pride ourselves in offering a place to talk without interruption, judgement, and perception of others getting in your way. Talk therapy can help you identify what you really want and need, help uncover the values and beliefs that drive you, your relationships, and your world view. Specialties: Our practice is happy to address anything that you believe is holding you back from living your best life, but we specialize in services catered to eating disorders (ED) and body image, LGBTQ+ issues, self-injury, trauma (emotional, physical, and religious), neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism Spectrum), kink, ethical non-monogamy (ENM), and relationships. Getting Real Counseling Center is the perfect place to talk and get assistance in developing a plan to change your life for the better. A little bit about me specifically: When you and I are in the room together, my goal is for you to be able to be your authentic self—including all of the grit, messiness, and beauty that comes with it. I work from an integrated perspective that incorporates narrative, feminist, queer, and existential lenses, but I am also able to adapt my methods to bring in other tools to best serve the specific issues at hand. I believe in a balance of compassion and challenge when working with clients. The challenge is that this is vulnerable work—it can be scary, harder before it gets easier, but I don’t expect you to work alone. You and I will work together, and there is no topic that is too big or too taboo for this space. I will strive to cultivate a trusting relationship between us so that you feel safe bringing in whatever you need to. My passion areas include sex therapy, gender identity work, grief and loss, and navigating interpersonal relationships. While I am open to working with all clients, the communities I love to center on include LGBTQIA+ communities, older adults, men and masculine of center clients, kink communities, and non-monogamous clients. My wish is for us to feel big emotions together, and face what we need to head on. Often in my sessions, there can be crying, but there can also be laughter, a good amount of swearing (if you’re comfortable!), and the shared wonder of growth. I am excited to potentially join you on your journey, and cannot wait to get to know you! I take Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, Cigna, and Aetna insurance.

I specialize in working with queer and neurodivergent clients, including those with no formal diagnosis, particularly autistic people, individuals with ADHD, and couples with mixed neurotypes. I am interested in exploring embodiment, somatic interventions, expressive arts, and pleasure activism with clients. I work with a variety of needs, such as navigating non-traditional relationship structures, anxiety, depression, self-actualization, low desire, identity development, and dysphoria, and the way grief can interplay with these needs. I facilitate these explorations through a humanistic, feminist, and systems-oriented lens. My area of focus is trauma-informed sex therapy. I hope to support clients as they defang shame and center joy and pleasure in their lives. I have four years of experience working with survivors of sexual trauma and a lifetime of working with queer people; in addition, I am kink-aware, polyamory-positive and -informed, pro-sex work, and organizer-friendly.
I specialize in helping high performers thrive in a fast-paced, uncertain, ever-changing world.
