Therapists for college students near Atlanta, GA
As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I bring empathy, an easygoing communication style, and a sweet sense of humor, making it easy to communicate with my patients and family members. Having worked both in crisis management centers, drug Rehabs, Adult psych hospitals and children’s psych hospitals, I decided to go back to school for my Master’s in Nursing 4 years ago to expand my knowledge and use my wealth of experience in good use. As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, my goal is to educate and empower patients and family members.
My name is Jessica Kettell and I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with the American Nurses Credentialing Center. I am here to help you restore your mental health and empower you to live your life to your fullest potential. Are you feeling sad or empty? Do you have trouble sleeping? Or maybe, you are so overwhelmed, anxious, or discouraged that it’s hard for you to make it through the day? You might find it hard to focus on tasks or assignments. Whatever problems you are facing right now, let’s tackle them together! You are not alone. You deserve to be happy and enjoy your life. I have completed a Fellowship Program in Functional and Integrative Psychiatry with Dr. James Greenblatt. My lifelong dream has been to make mental health care more accessible to individuals and to reduce the stigma associated with mental health treatment. Just as it is normal to seek treatment for diabetes, it should be natural to seek treatment to improve your mental health. You are a biochemically unique individual. A treatment that works well for someone, might not work best for you. That is why I use an evidence-based, whole-body, personalized approach to identify all factors that might be contributing to your mental health condition such as nutrition, lifestyle, hormones, genetics, and stress. Good nutrition and lifestyle practices are the foundation of mental wellness. I would love to support you on your mental health journey. Let’s do this together!
I'm so glad you're here! I welcome clients who may be perceived by others as "having it all together", but internally feel overwhelmed, out of control and are afraid of being "found out". My clients are high achieving and historically marginalized folks who want to work through anxiety, depression, stress management, boundary setting, life transitions, and identity exploration. I frame the healing journey in terms of present, past, and future-what's not working right now, how did you get here, and where do you want to be instead. Together we'll create a space where you are free to dream and make room for your authentic self to shine through. I became a psychologist to become an active part in creating a world that my inner child would feel seen in, and to extend that power and flexibility to others who may have learned that safety and support is not always given- sometimes it must be created. If you are curious about starting your Unapologetic Journey, email me to schedule a consultation today!

Mental Health Counseling is a process by which the therapist and client work together to help improve their quality of life as it relates to healing, personal and spiritual growth, and development. Everyone at some point in time has challenges in their life and needs help dealing with those challenges by sharing their thoughts and feelings in a private, comfortable setting that will ultimately help them to improve their quality of life. My goals are to help clients be the best version of themselves. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-focused therapy, and Christian counseling to help clients make positive changes in their lives and circumstances. I work with individuals and families specializing in the treatment of depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, and PTSD. I am a Human Service Professional with a demonstrated history of Non-profit organizations, Community Service, Education, and Mental Health Counseling. Allow me to help you be the best version of yourself.
At WellBeing NP, we work best with students who feel overwhelmed, burned out, or under pressure to “keep it together.” Many of the students we see are dealing with anxiety, ADHD, low mood, trouble sleeping, or stress from school, relationships, and life transitions. This is a good fit if you want someone who listens, explains things clearly, and helps you figure out a plan that actually feels manageable while you’re in school.

I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Through a holistic and personalized approach to care, I seek to help my patients thrive. With my diverse background, I’ve had the privilege of caring for the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals, families, and communities. I prioritize a patient-centered approach, value collaboration, and empower my clients to overcome challenges. I hold a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Post-Masters Certificate specializing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Georgia State University. I also have a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from South University in Savannah, GA. I’m here to guide you toward lasting wellness and look forward to partnering with you on your journey to better mental health. As a dual board-certified NP, I take a holistic approach to care, recognizing the connection between mental and physical health. I am passionate about improving access to quality mental health care and ensuring individuals receive compassionate, evidence-based treatment. My goal is to meet people where they are, providing support, guidance, and healing while addressing barriers to care. I tailor my approach by building therapeutic relationships with each patient, listening to their goals and values. I assess their unique needs and involve them in setting collaborative treatment goals. I respect patient preferences for care, which includes making adjustments that align with cultural beliefs. Open communication and scheduled check-ins ensure the treatment plan stays aligned with their needs, while respecting autonomy.

Struggling to adjust to college life? Feeling stuck? Wondering why you keep finding yourself in the same struggle, experiencing the same pain or relationship issues, yet again? Or perhaps you feel invisible or unheard, or can't find your own voice? I work with clients to explore how unresolved issues from the past impact the present. In an open and safe environment, we explore authentic feelings and lost aspects of self often censored in general society, toward greater personal insight, growth and change. An accepting and validating therapy relationship can be a key element in the healing of old wounds and opening up of new possibilities. I work primarily from a psychodynamic and relational orientation to work with the deep long-term wounds, traumas, and patterns that shape self-perceptions and influence current experiences and struggles. I will incorporate other modalities as applicable. All genders, sexual orientations, and races/ethnicities welcome. I also offer Brainspotting, a cutting edge EMDR derivative, neurobiological trauma treatment. I am intensively trained in psychoanalytic theory and practice, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples. I also bring over 25 years of corporate experience to my understanding of real world problems that clients struggle with.
I have experience helping clients from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of presenting concerns. My approach is collaborative and supportive. I work to provide clients with practical skills to assist with immediate stressors while also addressing underlying issues when appropriate. Clients who work with me generally report feeling challenged by our work but also enjoying our sessions.
I specialize in dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and stress reduction. The students I’ve worked with have learned to recognize and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, resulting in increased energy and focus. I’ve worked with students to develop healthy boundaries and coping skills to balance demands of academic and social life.
Hi! My name is India Harris and I am the founder of Root & Stem Women's Therapies. I find great satisfaction in supporting young adults during significant life transitions and adjustments. What would it look for you to live a life that more closely aligns with your values and potential? Sometimes we find ourselves feeling stuck as we repeat the same self-defeating thoughts and behaviors. We try to cope with the stresses of life, but our coping mechanisms just don't seem to work anymore. Let's face it: life can be really hard at times. But with the help of others, we can take steps towards becoming the people we were created to be. As a therapist, I create a warm environment to help you achieve your goals. I work with adults and adolescents who struggle with addiction, depression, and anxiety, as well as those who are simply adjusting to challenging life circumstances and events (i.e., a global pandemic, the loss of a loved one, moving to a new city). In all of these cases, I believe that change and healing take place in the context of relationships with other people, and I would consider it a privilege to cultivate a therapeutic relationship with you as you take steps towards living into your values and potential.

I was inspired to become a therapist after years of working for a non profit, providing residential case management for adults with severe and persistent mental illness and seeing the effects of unprocessed trauma and ongoing mental and emotional distress. During that time, I reflected upon my own experiences with therapy and how beneficial and life changing it was for me. I will make my clients feel heard and understood by creating and maintaining a supportive environment that is free from judgement and full of compassion, empathy, and honesty. My clients will be reminded that they are the experts regarding their lives, and I am there to work alongside them in an effort to achieve their therapeutic goals. I build trust by being authentic and being genuinely curious about the client that I am working with, including their interests, who they are as a person, and how I can best support them. I allow the client to determine the direction of the session while stepping in when needed, to encourage the discussion of topics or areas that may be difficult for the client talk about. I have gotten into the habit of “romanticizing” my life. Where I take some of my everyday tasks, and add a little extra style or care. For example, I love waking up in the morning and putting on a cute outfit and going to get an iced caramel coffee, before starting my day.

Please note that I only see clients who are in Georgia. I am currently providing individual therapy virtually through a secure platform. Struggling with emotions, thoughts, behaviors? Wanting to make some changes? If you are seeking to address issues and stressors in your life, support and challenge in therapy may help. I have over twenty years of experience working with eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns; much of my work has been with in university settings with college aged adults. I use a variety of techniques to help identify and change behaviors and thoughts that negatively impact your life. I generally see clients by appointment Monday through Thursday. During your first visit, I ask a variety of questions to get a broad view of your concerns, including your presenting issues, history, physical health, daily activities, social life, substance use, and other concerns. From that information we can determine goals for therapy and if we are a good fit. I will make suggestions if I think you need in-person or other services. I work with a wide range of psychological issues, and have significant experience working with women's issues and eating disorders . I have been trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy which has been found to be effective with eating disorders, depression, and anxiety. I also draw from other theoretical approaches to provide an individualized approach for each client based on their presenting issues, symptoms, values, goals, and history. I have experience working with diverse clients, from older adolescents through aged sixty-five, from a variety of ethnic, cultural, religious, socioeconomic and sexual identity backgrounds.
