Are you feeling overwhelmed with classes and social demands? Working through a relationship or family conflict? Hoping to build up confidence but not sure how? It’s understandable and normal that we might need help working through life’s challenges. It’s my goal to offer support and compassion as you navigate these challenges in hopes of creating a better and deeper understanding of yourself. I believe that through this understanding of yourself comes healing, growth, and an ability to identify and express your emotions. I want to help you find confidence, peace, and self-compassion. My specialties include college-aged women and post-college twenty-somethings entering the workforce. Women and young adults face unique experiences and I'm passionate about helping navigate them. Family systems therapy and attachment theory are the pillars of my work. I also use a trauma informed approach, person-centered therapy, and CBT. I approach my work with curiosity, humility, and humor (sometimes we just need to laugh a little). My goal is to create a welcoming and nonjudgmental space where you feel safe and empowered to express your thoughts and feelings. Through a collaborative approach, I strive to create a compassionate and sincere therapeutic relationship.
Prior to private practice, I worked in college counseling for three years. My style as a therapist is to provide much warmth, curiosity, compassion, and humor to help each client engage in a productive way of understanding themselves and their mental functioning. I take a holistic approach that encompasses the mind and the body. Although I work with many presenting concerns, I have noticed a commonality of how people are self-critical and subsequently experience declines in their mental health and relationships. I work with each client to develop self-awareness and coping skills to help decrease their mental health distress.
Reaching out for psychiatric care can be difficult. You may be concerned about being judged, unsure about medication, or discouraged by previous treatment experiences. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I believe care should be built on trust, honesty, respect, and collaboration. My role is to listen without judgment, explain your options clearly, and make sure you have a meaningful voice in treatment. I work with people of all backgrounds, including adolescents, adults, veterans, military-connected individuals, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Many patients come to me because they want to better understand what they’re experiencing and find a treatment plan that feels manageable. These struggles may result in feeling constantly on guard, depressed, hopeless, unmotivated, or unable to concentrate – with symptoms that often affect sleep, relationships, school, work, and day-to-day functioning. Other psychiatric conditions include PTSD, mood disorders, and ADHD. No matter what you’re facing, my aim is to create a therapeutic relationship built on trust, honesty, respect, and collaboration to better help you improve sleep, focus, emotional stability, relationships, motivation, and overall quality of life. My work as a psychiatric clinician centers on evaluations, diagnoses, medication management, supportive therapy, treatment planning, and patient education, all guided by a collaborative, patient-centered approach built on shared decision-making. Rather than simply prescribing a path forward, I take time to listen and explain treatment options clearly, so you understand the potential benefits and risks of each one before deciding together what makes sense. From there, your treatment plan is built around your specific symptoms, goals, preferences, and past response to care. That same collaborative spirit shapes what it feels like to work with me day to day. My style is calm, conversational, and grounded in a supportive, respectful environment where you're never just receiving instructions. Through medication management, supportive therapy, motivational interviewing, and education, I help you better understand what you're experiencing and take an active role in your own treatment. As your goals and experiences evolve, so does your plan, since care here is never meant to be static. My approach to mental health care has been shaped by 25 years of experience as an Army combat medic, critical care nurse, and psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. These roles gave me firsthand insight into trauma, crisis, resilience, and the effects of high-stress environments on individuals and families. I also hold a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, a Master of Business Administration, and the Healthcare Ethics Consultant-Certified credential. This combination of clinical, leadership, and healthcare ethics training strengthens my commitment to thoughtful, evidence-based treatments that respect each patient's values, autonomy, and individual circumstances. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our four children. Our family is actively involved in Scouting America, which gives us opportunities to serve our community, spend time outdoors, and learn new skills together. I also enjoy fishing, camping, kayaking, gaming, reading, and woodworking.
Life throws many challenges at us and sometimes it can be hard to know what to about these challenges. I work with clients who struggle with anxiety and depression and are feeling down more than usual or aren't feeling like they belong. I know what it feels like to not feel good enough, to worry about what people think of you, and to constantly be there to help others but not always be there for yourself. If this is something you struggle with, I am confident we can work together to navigate these issues. We can add more joy and take away stress from your life.
Hi there! My name is Lizzy, and I’m so glad you’re here. As a Highly Sensitive Person, I’m passionate about working with individuals who feel things deeply—those who are attuned to their environments, sensitive to others’ emotions, and sometimes struggle to regulate their own big feelings. I also support people who experience anxiety, including situational anxiety. Maybe you don’t feel anxious all the time, but you notice it spiking in certain situations—like when meeting new people, navigating your romantic life, or worrying about failing or disappointing others. I have extensive experience working with individuals whose brains are still developing their emotional regulation skills, and I truly love what I do. This work not only helps me continue to grow as a professional, but also supports others in building resilience, self-awareness, and authenticity.
Healing and growth takes place in the context of relationships - in our relationship with ourselves, and in our relationships with others. Unfortunately, our relationships can sometimes become distant, disconnected and a place of conflict, leaving us with unmet needs and just feeling “stuck.” We don’t feel safe asking for what we need, and maybe don’t even know what we need ourselves. The therapeutic relationship in counseling provides an authentic and safe place in which healing can begin to take place. My goal is to provide you with a space where you feel seen and heard; where you feel safe to explore your story and your experiences; a space where you can work through some of the hard things in a way that moves you towards a deeper sense of wholeness and connection. If you'd like to find out if this is a good place for you to address some of these things for yourself, reach out and we can schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if it would be a good fit!

My specialties include perinatal mental health and women’s mental health across the lifespan, along with mood and anxiety disorders, stress management, attachment disorders, and more. Together, we attend not only to areas of pain, but also to your strengths, values, and passions. My approach is warm, person-centered, and strengths-based, drawing flexibly from a range of evidence-based modalities. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. In addition, I am trained in the Gottman Method (Level 1) and use Gottman techniques in my work with couples. As a clinician with lived experience as a mother and more than ten years of experience as an educator, I bring a deep understanding of family systems, child development, and the realities of parenting. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, my work is rooted in helping teens and adults navigate complex trauma, late-diagnosed or suspected neurodivergent experiences, and the deeper questions of identity, relationships, and purpose. Whether you're processing a difficult life transition, untangling a late diagnosis of autism or ADHD, or beginning to understand how past experiences have shaped who you are today, I'm here to help you find clarity, connection, and a path forward. I believe in the power of connection and the idea that every part of you has value, which helps me be a genuine partner in building something that actually works for you. There’s no clipboard here, no one-size-fits-all plan handed down without context. Together, we'll explore who you are, tinker with the pieces, and discover the purpose you came here to find. You can expect warmth, honesty, and a comfortable space that feels both safe and genuine throughout our time together. Drawing on humanistic, neuroscience-based, attachment theory, and solution-focused approaches, we'll explore your relationships, emotions, identity, and purpose in a way that's collaborative from the start. Your plan is built with you, not for you, because your needs, experiences, and goals are the compass for everything we do together. Authentic and curious by nature, I believe that all parts of a person are worth examining and none of them are broken. That conviction shows up in every session. My path to becoming a therapist began in grief counseling and restorative justice intervention, where I witnessed firsthand how much a genuine human connection could change someone's trajectory. That experience deepened my commitment to relationship-centered care, where the therapeutic connection itself is part of the healing process. More than 10 years of advanced training from CU Boulder and Northwestern University ground my clinical practice, but what I bring to the work goes beyond a résumé: vulnerable humanity, genuine curiosity, and the occasional well-timed laugh. Outside of sessions, you'll find me in the boxing gym, tending to my aquariums, or playing percussion in bluegrass and folk music. These pursuits keep me grounded, present, and endlessly curious, qualities I carry into every session with you.
