Therapy is truly an odd place. It is a social, emotional, and mental experience unlike any other. You are plucked from your life and placed in a room or screen where the process and conversations revolve around you and your life. This can be daunting and debilitating, but also transformative, fascinating, and full of wonder and opportunity. Sometimes our lives ask that we be machines like everyone else, regurgitating what everyone else is doing. We are conditioned to disconnect from ourselves in order to function in this society. We are told there’s only one version of ourselves that is acceptable. My attempt will be in accompanying on your journey of building your individual unique identity and vitality. I have had multiple years of experience working with students that are navigating feelings of inadequacy, shame, and loneliness. I also have worked extensively with supporting students in highly competitive environments with pressure to conform, while building their authenticity and their voice. My practice is catered towards building a space for the client and their individual needs.

I work with children, teens, and adults, using a specialized blend of behavior principles into my therapeutic practice. I started my career in special education as a behaviorist for children with autism and later worked as a school counselor for middle school students in East Los Angeles. I earned my BCBA in 2020 and my LCSW in 2021, allowing me to integrate behavior management techniques into my mental health practice. I love being able to work with clients from both a behavioral and mental health perspective, allowing space for big behaviors and big feelings to coexist and be processed together. I'm here to help! I am directive yet empathetic and allow clients to tailor their therapeutic plan to meet their needs and goals. Please don't hesitate to reach out for a consultation to see if we might be a good fit. Welcome to my Psychotherapy Practice. Currently, I am only seeing clients via video conferencing. Primarily, I work with people suffering from anxiety, addictive behaviors and couples in distress. When people seek counseling, they may report anxiety, depression and insecurity. One consistent theme is how often people make decisions that run counter to their desires and well being. Therapy can help us separate from, or gain perspective about, outdated attitudes and behaviors. One profound outcome is that we learn to accept our humanness. For many this has been inconceivable. Acceptance frees up energy to pursue interests. But self-acceptance has little to do with approval by others. Through these conversations, people often discover how current and past relationships influence mood, self-esteem and motivation. Psychotherapy helps us to recognize and detach from emotional reactions that interfere with growth. Psychotherapy, regardless of emphasis, includes an educational element. We learn to self-reflect (gain insight) in the presence of another person. Most of us need help in discovering why we do what we do. Self-reflection gives us a glimpse into our fears and desires. My style of work is active and exploratory. I tend to shy away from being directive though may suggest a focus during the session. I often employ humor or may share personal experience to bring home a point.

I HELP YOUNG ADULTS CONSCIOUSLY GET WHAT THEY WANT (IN LIFE AND RELATIONSHIPS). Life is overwhelming. Between school, work, relationships, and technology calling for your attention at every moment, it’s extremely difficult to remain calm and grounded. We can lose our sense of purpose and passion. I've had my own struggles in life, which led me to see therapists, take countless personal growth workshops, and sit in meditation retreats. Through doing all of this work, I figured out how to rewrite the mental and emotional patterns that no longer served me. I learned how to achieve greater peace by getting out of my head and getting present in my body. Unlike other therapists who merely sit and listen, I take an active and engaged approach. You may find yourself in a guided meditation or a role-play exercise. There may be optional homework assignments. We’ll tune into exactly what you need. I’m here to support you to find your unique, confident voice.

I’m a licensed psychotherapist and consultant specializing in individual and couples therapy. My work focuses on helping people heal from trauma, childhood wounding, attachment injuries, and relational challenges. I believe therapy should be a safe, inclusive, and affirming space—one where every part of you is welcome. In our work together, we’ll gently explore the parts of you that feel difficult to access or understand. Over time, we’ll uncover the internal patterns and protective walls that may have once helped you survive—but are now holding you back from connection, growth, and ease. Many of the individuals I work with are navigating the ongoing effects of painful life experiences, or are beginning to notice how their resistance to vulnerability might be limiting deeper relationships. My goal is to help you feel supported in doing this brave work. Therapy can be challenging, but I strive to make it less overwhelming, more grounded, and deeply human. I draw from a blend of evidence-based, trauma-informed therapies to support healing and long-term change. These include: Internal Family Systems (IFS) – to help you connect with and care for your inner parts Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – a research-supported method for processing trauma and distressing life experiences Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) – to strengthen emotional bonds and resolve conflict in couples I tailor our work to your unique needs—whether you're seeking to recover from trauma, build more fulfilling relationships, or simply get to know yourself on a deeper level. If you’re ready to begin—or even just curious—I’d be honored to walk alongside you in this process. Call (408) 800-7305 to get started!

Marriage & Family Therapist
Upland, CA

Hello! My name is Tina, and I am the daughter of immigrants from Mexico, an Angeleña, and a wounded healer. As someone who carries her own history of trauma, it is important for me to create a space where people feel like they not only belong but that their story matters and where they can find healing within themselves. I support people who are ready to do the difficult work of addressing their experiences of loss, life transitions, and trauma. I specialize in working with people who have experienced childhood trauma and abuse, survivors of sexual abuse, and people who have had difficult experiences that they feel hold them back. Many of the people I work with struggle to put themselves first and often feel overwhelmed and stuck although they may appear to have it all together. They struggle to ask for help due to fear of being seen as weak when deep inside what they really want is to be seen and accepted for who they are, unconditionally. I work with clients to recognize the thoughts, feelings, and physical responses to trauma as a means of understanding themselves and their trauma and regaining control through various therapy modalities including EMDR and Brainspotting. I also explore the role of intergenerational trauma in my clients' lives and help them connect with their inner child as a part of their healing journey. My approach to therapy is human-first. It is important to co-create a space where people feel like they not only belong but that their story matters and where they can find their own source of healing within themselves. My hope is that through our work together you can connect with your inner healer and take that next step forward throughout your healing journey. In-Person Sessions are offered in Upland, CA and Telehealth Sessions are available to people in CA and FL.
